The Design Process
Many of our clients have never been through the process of having a web site
designed. Our process is simple, and we try to make it as easy as possible
for you. The greatest responsibility you have as a client is to provide the
logos, photos and content, and to give prompt feedback at the various stages.
This helps us move through the process smoothly.
This process assumes that you have already signed our Web Development agreement
and have paid your deposit of one-half the final total.
1. Web Design Questionnaire
We have developed a comprehensive questionnaire for the web site development
process. The information you give helps us nail down the navigation, content
and theme of your site. We use this questionnaire as a road map for creating
your site.
2. Graphics and Content
You need to provide us with all the graphic images you want on your site,
such as your logo, pictures and illustrations. You also need to provide us
with all the written content. The top priority is the graphic images so we
can begin the web site design. Then we need the content. If you don’t
have content, our copywriters can help you develop it for an additional fee.
3. Initial Site Design
Our designer puts together an initial look and feel
to your site. It is a single graphic that we put up in a test area for you
to view. After you give us your initial feedback on the design, we go back
and forth until we create a design that you like.
4. Final Approval of the Design
Once you select the final design of the site, you give us written approval
of the design, either on paper or by email. From this point you may make minor
changes to the design, but any major design changes result in additional design
charges.
5. HTML Programming
Our designer uses your approved design to start programming the site in HTML
and creating the pages on your site. This includes pasting in content, editing
photos and formatting pages.
6. Testing the Site
We test your site to make sure everything is working correctly, including
testing links and contact forms. We also test to see what the site looks like
on different browsers.
7. Final Approval of the Entire Site
After we have completed our tests, you go through the site and check to make
sure everything is to your satisfaction. Typically a couple rounds of changes
take place before the site is ready to publish.
8. Final Payment
You give the final payment for your web site, either by check or credit card.
Then we upload your site to its permanent location.
9. Uploading of the Site
We upload your site to its permanent hosting location and then test the forms
to make sure they are working correctly. We also set up your email accounts
if they aren’t set up already.
Your new site is now live!
